A SERIES of summer walks in the Beverley area is planned by the Beverley, Hull and Holderness ramblers' groups.
The walks are open to Ramblers’ Association members and non-members, and are free of charge. They are between three to six miles in length and designed as an introduction to the East Riding countryside.
There is no need to book; turn up 10 to 15 m
ins before the start time, with waterproofs and walking shoes.
The first of the shorter walks are as follows: Tuesday May 6, 5.5 miles, meet at Rise, near Skirlaugh-Long Riston, via the A165, 7pm; Tuesday May 13, five miles, meet Morrison’s car park at Beverley, 7pm; Tuesday May 20, five miles, meet Walkington Church, 7pm; Tuesday May 27, five miles, meet Beverley Beck lock gates, east of A1174, 7pm; Wednesday May 28, three miles, meet Ship pub, Dunswell, bus to Thearne, walk back for pub lunch, 10.30am (essential to phone 01482 861988 beforehand).
Full day walks (bring packed lunch and drink): Wednesday April 30, 8.5 miles, meet SE 819 652 Birdsall, 10am; Sunday May 4, eight miles, meet SE 805 588 Kirby Underdale, 10am; Wednesday May 14, eight miles, meet SE 874 506 Warter, 10am.
