Town to aim for Humber honours as pre-season work gets underway
BEVERLEY Town will begin preparations for the new football season when pre-season training starts on Wednesday, July 1.
The club are keen to push for honours in the Humber Premier League this term and have arranged a total of six pre-season games which they hope will give them the best possible chance of starting the campaign strongly.
The majority of first team players will once again be available and the squad is set to be boosted by the return of keeper Mark Cockin from injury and midfielder Trevor Lynn.
Right-back Jay Custus will also be looking to build on the form that saw him named both the players’ and chairman’s player of the year at the club’s end of season awards evening.
He said: “It is great to receive recognition from your team-mates.
“We are really keen to challenge for honours this season and confident that we can improve on last seasons showing.”
An important part of pre season is the hard work behind the scenes, with pitch preparation and fundraising top of the list.
As part of that, the club will be hosting its first fundraising golf day, which will take place at the Hornsea Golf Club on Friday August 21.
The prize event is open to teams of four, at a price of 120 per team, including bacon sandwich and coffee, golf and a meal afterwards.
