Tickton shake off break to beat Malet
East Riding Girls Football League Under 10s
AFC Tickton 4
Malet Lambert 0
ON a crisp but dry morning on Saturday, AFC Tickton faced Malet Lambert in their first game in a month, and only their second since mid-December.
The girls were desperate to play, though the manager hoped that they wouldn't be too rusty.
Tickton took control in midfield from the kickoff and took an early lead when Emma Smith put Amy Dodds through to score from the edge of the box.
They made it two five minutes later when Smith, the league’s top scorer, scored her 48th goal of the season.
Malet continued to work really hard, but found it tough going against a well organised Tickton defence with Amy Radford, Olivia Nassau and Lainey-Jo Spivey all giving nothing away.
At the other end, a brace of strikes from Natalie Bell, the second direct from a corner, gave Tickton a commanding four goal lead at half-time.
Malet made changes in the second half and showed great commitment in closing down the Tickton players.
But Tickton continued to create opportunities, with Bell seeing a great chance for a hat-trick go over from five yards.
Meanwhile, the Malet keeper put in a fantastic performance keeping out a number of Tickton shots and keep the score at full time to 4-0.
The player of the match award was given to Natalie Bell for her great work rate.
