Trio set personal bests at Bridge

IT WAS a bright and breezy day for the Humber Bridge 10k last Sunday and more than 300 runners raced across the bridge to Barton and back.

First home for Beverley Athletic Club was Steve Peacock in 38:05. He finished in sixth place overall and won first prize in the M45 category.

Lucas Meagor followed in a new personal best time of 40:37, beating his previous best in a 10k by 32 seconds.

Beverley finished third in the men’s team competition behind East Hull Harriers and City of Hull. The team was made up of Peacock, Meagor and Andy Arnold.

In the ladies’ veteran categories Pam Atkins won first prize in the F65 age group, finishing in a commendable 56:27, and Angela Collins was the second F45 to finish.

Miranda Hunt and Julia Baggs both recorded new personal best times, each beating their previous best by more than 90 seconds.

There were 347 finishers and the race was won by Steve Bateson of East Hull Harriers in 32:47. The first lady was Lisa Guscott-Trout in 39:11.
