Barracudas impress at Metro gala
LAST weekend, the Barracudas sent a team to Sheffield to compete in the prestigious Rotherham Metro gala where they were up against teams from as far afield as Coventry, Newcastle and the Isle of Man.
The Barracduas flew the flag for Beverley and returned home with a hatful of medals.
Outstanding performances were put in by several club members.
Hannah Falkinder came second in the 12 year-old girls’ 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly events, third in the 50m and 200m backstroke events and fourth in the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly events.
Isabelle Young finished third in the nine-year-old girls 50m and 200m breaststroke events.
Jack Newton came fourth in the boys’ 15 years and over 200m breaskstroke.
A number of other swimmers achieved top 10 finishes, including Seren Adams (with three), Charlotte Brocklesby and Olivia Meeke.
The success of the team at this event is testament to the hard work put in by the swimmers and coaches at the club who are certainly putting Beverley on the swimming map. Not bad for a club that is only five years old.
