BEVERLEY Braves Under 8s were short on numbers against East Hull A at Longcroft after James Wrigglesworth hurt his foot and Thomas Cohen was unable to play.
But the young rugby league enthusiasts dug in and Aflie Schultz carried on his excellent form of the past couple of weeks, driving down the middle of the park. He scored his first try of the night by taking half Easts team on his back over the line.

Josh Clark was solid in defence, scoring his third of the season with some dancing footwork. Following some tries without reply, Darcy O'Connor scored from a quick play of the ball when his pace left the opposition standing.

Connor Weinman tackled well but was kept out by Easts.
Man of the match was Marcus Darley who gave his team good go-forward and improved his all round game, producing solid, positive performance.

Lewis Gaden worked well in attack and defence with try-saving tackles, and strong bursts down the wing, Joe Rose had great defence rushing to the oncoming player to stop the momentum, and went close to scoring on a couple of occasions.

The second Braves game, against East Hull B, was a tight affair as the teams traded tries and big hits. Lewis started things off with yet another long distance run down the wing to score his 13th and go one ahead of Connor, who went close and then off-loaded to Joe and Josh but could not find a way though.

Alfie popped up with another powerful try as he continued his improvement to challenge as one of the best Under 8s in the league even at the age of six. Marcus, Josh and Joe played good rugby all evening and Joe rounded off a good display by beating the Easts down the touchline to score his eighth try of the season.

Season totals fo far: Lewis 13, Connor 12, Joe eight, Alfie five, Darcy and Josh three, Marcus and James one each.

Man of the Match awards: Lewis, Darcy and Joe two each, Alfie, Marcus Connor Thomas and Josh one each.
