THE Meridian Gymnastic Club, whose members are from the Beverley area, has double cause for celebration.
Two of the club’s most promising members tasted success at the East Yorkshire Sub-Regional Individual Four Piece Gymnastic Championships held at Hull’s Gemtec Arena.

In the nine-year section, Bethany Curry took the floor title, winning a gold medal and just missing out on a bronze when she was fourth on vault.

In the 10-year group, Imogen Wright followed a steady bar exercise routine with a silver medal on balance beam and gold medal performances on floor and vault. Her consistently high standard on all four pieces of apparatus earned her the overall champion shield and the title of overall champion in the 10-year age group at level seven. The award followed her success in being crowned floor and vault champion level seven earlier this year.

Club coach Ann Brown said: “Both girls have achieved so much with little time to prepare. It’s fantastic, they both deserve it for training so hard.”
