Beverley WS Bulldogs 7

Molescroft Mohicans 2

Bulldogs wound up their season with a seventh consecutive victory, but the scoreline does not reflect how well Molescroft battled. The hosts were well on top in the early stages and should have scored when Lewis Cunningham had two chances when he fired wide. Adam Christie hit the bar with a header but it was only a matter of time before Bulldogs scored. The deadlock was broken when Christie hit home from close range. Mohicans hit straight back when they strolled through the Bulldogs defence unchallenged.

Jordan Day put Bulldogs back in front after the break with the team’s 100th in the league this season. Lewis Cunningham followed with an easy tap in after some fine play on the right, then Christie added the fourth from inside the box. Mohicans pulled one back with a long range free kick that bobbled over the home keeper. Cunningham then made amends for those earlier missed chances when he lobbed a bouncing ball over the visiting keeper and into the net. Matthew Mainland tapped in number six and Jordan Day wrapped things up with the seventh. Bulldogs have missed promotion by one point but have worked hard and played well as a team. George Woods and Jordan Day picked up joint man of the match awards.

Bulldogs: C Richardson, Pell, Preston, J Richardson, Clark, Harrison, Taylor, Woods, Mainland, Townend, Cunningham, Oliver, Day, A Christie.
