BEVERLEY racecourse stages its richest meeting of the season this Saturday as the first of two days' action at the track over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Total prize money of £110,000 will be on offer across the seven races due to be staged on the Westwood on Saturday.

The main features will be the totepool Beverley Bullet Stakes, a Listed contest over five furlongs and the totesport.com Stakes, a
£50,000 handicap for three year olds over a mile and a quarter.

One of the Westwood's most famous recent winners is also honoured in the European Breeders Fund Speciosa Stakes over seven furlongs.
The filly, whose finest hour was her victory in last season's 1000 Guineas, won the corresponding race at the track for trainer Pam Sly two years ago.

Meanwhile, the star jockeys of the future will get their chance to shine in the closing Pertemps People Development 'Hands And Heels' Apprentice Maiden Handicap Stakes over a mile and a quarter.

The race will be the ninth round of the 12 race series for apprentice riders who are allowed to carry whips, but are not permitted to use them.

Sunday's big race is the Britannia Rescue Nursery Handicap Stakes for two year olds over five furlongs.

Other features on the card include the John Jenkins Memorial Claiming Stakes, which honours a former racecourse member, and the Charles Elsey Memorial Handicap in memory of the former champion trainer.

Beverley's Lions Club also support the mile and a quarter maiden contest and will be offering a host of attractions in the course enclosure.

The Hull and East Riding Ferret Rescue group will also be staging ferret races.

Action on both days is due to get underway at 2pm.
