Published Date: 16 April 2008
BEVERLEY racecourse hosts its opening meeting of the season today, Wednes-day, with a seven race card, starting at 2.10pm.
The track’s second meeting of 2008 takes place next Thursday, April 24, with the first race starting at 2pm.

The opening race will be the New T-Mobile Beverley Store Claiming Stakes for two year olds.

The feature contest will be the Dadie’s Birthday Celebration Stakes, a £10,500 seven furlong handicap for three year olds.

The race is one of three on the card named in honour of Mrs Dadie Oughtred, a director of the race company, as part of her birthday celebrations.

Constant Security Services, who provide security at Beverley and several other Yorkshire racecourses, return to this meeting to once again sponsor the maiden contest over the extended mile.

Meanwhile, two great supporters of northern racing, Bryan Dunn and John Wade, put their names to the three year old handicap over a mile and a quarter.

They successfully bid for the race at a special auction on Spinal Research Charity Day at Wetherby back in October.

As ever. the totesport giant screen will assist racegoers to follow all of the action on the track.
