As a result of the building works commencing on the new Rix Pavilion Events Centre, the Driffield Agricultural Society have announced that as from Saturday, 6 September the Driffield Farmers Market will be moving to its new permanent home within the Showground.
David Tite, Chief Executive of the Society said: “The Society is excited to be relaunching the Driffield Farmers’ Market in its new home within the Showground.
The Driffield Agricultural Society first created the Driffield Farmers’ Market to help bring the producers of food into direct contact with the customer, and this is still the principal that the we still wholeheartedly believe in. The market will be located entirely outside which will allow us to create a traditional market feel and also allow us space for expansion in the future”.
Entry to the Farmers’ Market will remain free of charge to visitors and the ample car parking that Farmers’ Market visitors have become accustomed to will continue to be free and located adjacent to the market to ensure that purchases made at the market can be transported from stall to car with ease. The market’s charity butty hut will also be being relocated to its permanent home within the market providing refreshments to traders and visitors.
To mark the relocation of the market the Society have arranged for the event to be celebrated with music throughout the morning courtesy of the Buckrose Concert Band. Many traders will also be providing visitors with free samples.
The Driffield Farmers’ Market runs on the first Saturday of every month and the opening hours are between 9am and 1pm. For further information on either visiting the Farmers’ Market or on how to become a trader at the Farmers’ Market please call the Society Office on 01377 257494.
