A donation of £144,144.24 from Yorkshire Building Society helped to keep the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) flying in 2013.
YAA has welcomed the donation from Yorkshire Building Society through its affinity accounts, which will go towards meeting the increased running costs of the life-saving service.
To keep YAA’s two helicopters in the air costs £9,990 per day, equivalent to £3.6 million per year.
Yorkshire Building Society group offers three accounts for savers to support YAA:
• a YAA Rollover Bond with Yorkshire Building Society
• a YAA Rollover Bond with Barnsley Building Society; and
• the Saving Saves Lives easy access account with the Barnsley.
The Society pays 1% of the average balance from all three accounts directly to the charity each year.
Since the introduction of the first affinity accounts with the Barnsley in 2007 and the Yorkshire in 2011, the Society has donated more than £550,000 to YAA.
