Walkington teenager fights for life after Bainton, East Yorkshire, car crash - more on this story in Wednesday's Driffield Times
POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision yesterday evening (Monday 23 August 2010).
At 6.39pm on Monday 23 August, it is believed a red coloured Mini One car with white coloured stripes on the bonnet and roof was travelling south along the B1248 from Bainton, in the direction of Lund, when it left the road and collided with a wooden electricity pylon.
There were three occupants in the car at the time of the collision.
The driver, a 19-year-old North Newbald man, sustained minor head injuries.
He was treated at Hull Royal Infirmary and was later discharged from hospital.
The front seat passenger a 19-year-old Walkington man was uninjured.
The back seat passenger, a 17-year-old Walkington boy, sustained life threatening injuries and is currently being treated at Hull Royal Infirmary.
His condition is currently described as very poorly.
The collision disrupted power supplies to nearby houses.
The driver was later arrested in connection with the collision. He is currently in police custody.
Traffic officers are urging any passing motorists or pedestrians who witnessed the very distinctive red coloured Mini One car with white coloured stripes on the bonnet and roof travelling on the B1248 between Bainton and Lund around 1830hrs last night to come forward, as a matter of urgency.
