East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Walking for Health scheme is looking to expand and gain new walk leaders and the next free training course is to be held on Wednesday, 13 November at Hilltop Cricket and Rugby Club, Cottingham, from 9.30am-3.30pm.
The Walking for Health scheme relies on local people who are willing to commit to a few hours to help with leading walking groups. All volunteers are provided with free training and insurance to lead walks in the East Riding.
The scheme currently has over 18 walks covering the whole of the East Riding. The walks are designed to cater for everyone from the experienced walker to the complete beginner and walks last between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the venue.
If you are looking for a challenge and want to stay active whilst meeting new people, becoming a walk leader may be for you.
Anyone interested in becoming a walk leader or wants to know more about the walks in their area should contact East Riding of Yorkshire’s Healthy Lifestyles Development Officer, Laura Hutchinson, on (01482) 392527 or email email@example.com
