Tributes were paid to former Australian airmen who were stationed at Driffield during World War Two at the annual Anzac Day commemorations last Friday.

Around 30 people gathered at the town’s Memorial Gardens for a service led by the Rev John McNaughton.

Coun Barbara Hall, one of the organisers of the commemorations, said the sadness was two-fold because people were not only remembering crewmen who were lost during the war, but also veterans who have passed away recently because of their increasing age.
