A unique piece of Charles Laughton memorabilia went under the hammer at David Duggleby’s auction rooms in Scarborough on Saturday.
The international Hollywood stage and screen actor and director (1899-1962) was born in Scarborough.
Up for auction was his Oxford and Cambridge School Certificate, gained at Stonyhurst College July 1915 in Latin, Elementary Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, English and English History.
It was framed and glazed both sides and measured 18cm x 21cm. The certificate was auctioned with a Laughton Family beer bottle. It sold for £100, which was the top of the pre sale estimate.
