A new exhibition has been launched at a gallery in Beverley, focusing on The White Horse pub in the town.
Artist Sarah Chadwick has so far completed three paintings of the popular Hengate pub, better known to most who visit as Nellie’s, with more promised.
Two have also been turned into limited edition prints.
The pictures and prints went on show at Creation Fine Arts gallery, in North Bar, Beverley, on Wednesday 4 September.
Creation owner and curator, Nigel Walker, said: “I was delighted when Sarah came to discuss her pictures with me.
“They are extremely atmospheric, showing a great understanding of colour and technique, and are filled with the familiar warmth and cosiness of this renowned pub which many will recognise and there are similarities to Elwell in the palette Sarah uses.”
At six foot by four foot, the paintings will need to find a very particular home but the smaller prints, of which there is a limited edition of just 75, will undoubtedly sell quickly to people with fond memories of the pub.
In the meantime, Sarah plans to paint more of the older pubs in the East Yorkshire area.
