Teen lit house fire
A MAN has admitted setting fire to his house endangering the life of his neighbours and stealing a car.
John Leighton, 19, appeared at Hull Crown Court on Friday September 7 and pleaded guilty to a charge of recklessly endangering the lives of his mother Caroline Leighton and her partner Steven Hunter.
It follows a police investigation following a fire at his terraced home from which he was rescued at Moorcroft Cottages, Harpham, on April 12.
Leighton denied attacking his girlfriend Rhonda Hawks on May 12 and, burglary at Garden Cottages, Kilham, on May 12. He has admitted stealing a Peugeot 106 on May 12.
Crown barrister Nick Adlington said the plea to being reckless was acceptable to the crown but there would have to be a trial on the assault and burglary charges.
Recorder Jeremy Hill-Baker granted Leighton bail on condition he lives at Darwin Road, Bridlington. He must return to court on October 15 for trial.
