Stylist a cut above
A DOUBLE whammy of award nominations is enjoyed by a Beverley hair salon shortlisted for a national competition.
Rick Roberts Hair Salon, in Flemingate, Beverley and also in Princess Avenue in Hull, has been voted for by customers to be shortlisted in the hair salon of the year category at the English Hair and Beauty Awards.
Rick Roberts, who owns the business with his wife Zoe, has also been nominated for women’s stylist of the year and will go head-to-head with four other hairdressers for the title.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on Saturday March 3, in Manchester, and both Rick and Zoe will be attending.
Zoe, 31, who is from Beverley, said: “We are really pleased to have been nominated by our customers as it shows that we listen to them and they enjoy the atmosphere here.
“It is very exciting and we’re both looking forward to the awards evening. It will be great to meet fellow hairdressers.”
Rick, 30, is originally from Manchester, and is innovative in his hair styling. He also enjoys experimenting with photographing hair and worked with local photographer Caroline Windeatt to create the underwater themed pictures shown.
The awards ceremony is into its second year and aims to recognise industry excellence and innovation. This year it is produced in association with a British fake tan bran - Fake Bake.
