Yorkshire’s biggest bonfire night firework party - Kaboom York - is set to showcase ‘out of this world’ 3D special effects in the city. Crowds at Kaboom will be the first in Yorkshire and the north to see the unique sci-fi effect created by 3D spectacles at a bonfire night celebration.
This year’s fully choreographed display of fireworks, lasers and lighting, synchronised to a specially commissioned music track, will all be viewed whilst wearing 3D glasses which create a unique kaleidoscope effect. The dazzling new dimension has been introduced as part of the firework display’s science fiction theme, inspired by the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.
Presented by Jitu Desai, one of the world’s best pyrotechnicians, ‘Kaboom’ www.kaboomyork.com is expected to attract thousands of people to the ‘must see’ event. There will also be a funfair, a ‘Sparkler Park’ and junior firework display for young children, live entertainment including the Minster FM roadshow, fire jugglers and carnival performers, and the chance to tuck into traditional bonfire night goodies.
Mark Brayshaw, managing director of York based Rockin’ Horse Promotions, organisers of the event, said, ‘The 3D glasses for viewing fireworks is a relatively new concept to the UK. It’s a first for our region and the north. Our science fiction theme, and the introduction of lasers and 3D special effects, will truly add a new dimension to the event: it will be out of this world. We will light up the skies of this historic city with some of the most advanced special effects in pyrotechnics to mark its connections with the famous conspirator.
“In addition, we hope the introduction of a fun size firework display ahead of the main event, as well as a Sparkler Park so that young children can safely enjoy sparklers, will provide even more entertainment for families with young children at Kaboom this year.’
Kaboom takes place on Sunday, 3rd November, 2013. Tickets start at £12.50 for adults and £9.50 for children with up to 40% discounts available for early purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance via www.kaboomyork.com or at the Visit York Information Centre, Museum Street, York.
