Returning to his roots
A BEVERLEY born organist is returning to his roots to take part in a special concert of organ and brass.
Tickets are now on sale for the concert which will take place in St Mary’s Church, in Beverley on Saturday April 10 at 7.30pm
The concert will include performances from Stephen Binnington and the Tempus Brass Quintet.
Stephen Binnington was born in Beverley and was a pupil at Longcroft School, a chorister and organ student under Alan Spedding at Beverley Minster and cellist in the East Riding County Youth Orchestra.
He is now director of the Farrington Music School near Shaftesbury, Dorset, where he administers and directs a busy programme of concerts, courses and events.
His freelance career as an organist and piano accompanist has taken him to many parts of the UK and abroad.
Following the April concert at St Mary’s, Stephen will be giving a recital in Westminster Abbey in London.
Tempus Brass are also making a very welcome return to Beverley having thrilled their audience as guests of the Beverley Chamber Choir. The five young players are all graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music, one of the leading conservatoires in Europe.
