Police try to trace bike owner
POLICE are trying to locate the owner of a quad bike that is believed to have been stolen from the East Yorkshire area.
The Barrus bike was found by police in the early hours of Monday 31 August after officers initially saw two men riding it along the A1035 in the Routh area.
The quad bike was then found abandoned about 10 minutes later in the Long Riston area after failing to stop for police.
The quad bike is strongly suspected to have been stolen but to date no one has reported the loss.
The rider of the bike, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and has since been released on police bail.
Police want to hear from anyone with information about the quad bike or about the second man on the quad, who was not found by police and is described as a white man with a thin build and wearing spectacles.
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Detective Constable Simon Gooding at Beverley Police Station on the non emergency number 101 referring to log 78 of 31 August 2012.
