Police are hunting armed robbers who raided a jewellery store in Beverley today and stole watches worth “tens of thousands of pounds”.
Early reports suggest that three men forced their way into Guest and Philips in Saturday Market in the town centre shortly after it opened at 9.30am.
According to Humberside Police, staff were threatened with a firearm.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured.
The robbers used an axe to smash the window displays which housed the watches.
Officers are currently at the scene conducting searches and talking to witnesses, police said.
