Two men appeared before magistrates on Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery of a jewellers in Beverley.

Jack O’Neil, 19, from Leeds, and Kevin Smith, 22, from Doncaster, are both charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Appearing at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, neither of the men entered pleas to the charge, which relates to an armed robbery at Guest and Phillips Jewellers in Saturday Market on 6 August last year.

The case was transferred to Hull Crown Court, where O’Neil and Smith will appear on 22 January.

Presiding magistrate Graham McDonald remanded the pair in custody.
