Officers back plan but parish council disapproves
PLANS to build four houses on the site of an empty industrial building on a site in Tickton will go before East Riding Council next week.
Planning officers are recommending that councillors grant planning consent for the application for the land at the south side of Butt Lane, despite objections from Tickton Parish Council.
The parish council claims that the introduction of houses would be out of keeping with the area, which is mainly bungalows, and claims the development would be premature until on-going drainage conditions in Butt Lane and Carr Lane are addressed.
Several residents in Butt Lane and Green Lane have also objected to the application, expressing concerns about overlooking and extra traffic in Butt Lane, which is a private road.
But the applicants, Dixon Brothers Ltd, claim the redevelopment of a former industrial site for housing will be a significant improvement to the area.
In a report to next Monday's (September 1) meeting of East Riding Council's eastern area planning sub-committee, planning chiefs say the overall design of the scheme represents an acceptable redevelopment of previously developed land. They claim the proposal will not create any flooding, privacy, highway endangerment or detrimental impact on a nearby right of way.
They say the scheme should be approved subject to conditions.
