A funeral service was held at the East Riding Crematorium on Wednesday, 5 January for Mrs Eileen Davis of Mill Falls, Driffield who died peacefully in hospital on 19 February. She was 87.

The service was conducted by the Rev Andrew Ison & the organist was Mr Peter Maw.

Eileen was born in Driffield the daughter of Jack & Alice Cooper. After leaving school she worked at Shepcotes Sugar Factory in Driffield. Eileen had a love for dance and music and was champion at the Jitterbug in the Old Town Hall in Driffield on many occasions.

At the age of 18 she joined the army and was stationed near London. She loved her time in the army but at the age of 20 she was called home to help look after her mother.

She met her husband Jim whilst out cycling and they married 6 months later at All Saints’ Parish Church in Driffield on December 18th, 1948. Over the years they travelled far and wide. Janine was born in Germany in 1958.

Being in the RAF Eileen and Janine went where ever Jim went. She made many good friends all over the country. After Jim left the RAF they settled in Mill Falls in Driffield where they were very happy.

She spent many happy hours in later life looking after her grandchildren Natalie and James who she loved dearly.

Sadly Jim died on the 5th March last year which left a large void in Eileens life.

She will be greatly missed.
