Police were called by the ambulance service shortly before 1300hrs yesterday 25/09/13 reporting a road traffic collision on Tranby Lane at the junction with Greenstiles Lane, Swanland.
A collision had occurred involving a grey coloured Nissan Micra and a black Honda motorcycle.
It is believed that the vehicles collided as the Nissan Micra, which was travelling along Tranby Lane, manoeuvred into the path of the approaching motorcycle, close to the junction of Greenstiles Lane.
Sadly, the motorcycle rider, a 58 year old local man died at the scene as a result of the collision. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
The road was closed from shortly after the incident until 1720hrs as police and other services began initial enquiries and, when able, took steps to clear the carriageway.
The 82 year old local driver of the Nissan Micra was arrested in connection with the collision and has since been released on police bail until a date in November.
A police investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances leading to the collision and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen either of the vehicles in the Swanland area prior to the collision.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 quoting log number 297 of Wednesday 25 September 2013.
