On Sunday January 13, Beverley’s cafechurch fresh are hosting an event called “from Soldier of Fortune to Soldier of God”. Ex mercenary John Heaton will tell the dramatic tale of how God intervened to change his life, leading him to become a life changer himself.
“John Heaton was plying his trade as a mercenary in the Far East when he had an experience of God that changed his life forever”, said fresh host for the evening Chris Peach. “We are so privileged that John has agreed to come and tell us his story, it’s truly amazing. From being a mercenary John is now passionate about helping turn around the lives of disaffected young people. He was trained by man to take lives, and now has been trained by God to save them. He used to travel the world for money, now he travels the UK promoting the cause of Eagle House, a Christian organisation supporting young people around the world; enabling them to be the best they can be. It’s a complete turn-round.
Hearing a dramatic tale like this is going to be an inspiring start to 2013, and as usual at fresh, there will be an opportunity for discussion and to ask John questions, and also a quiz, and coffee of course!”
The event starts at 6:30pm, but once again fresh are asking people to come early to get a place, as they expect this to be another popular event. They will be opening the doors early again at 6:20pm
fresh is a cafechurch hosted by Beverley Baptist Church, but says Mr Peach “it’s not meant to be anything like church, it’s for people who don’t ‘do’ church. Everyone is welcome to just come along and have a coffee and join in if they want to, or they can just sit and listen”.
