Doing everything together is the secret to a long happy marriage according to a Beverley couple who celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary last Thursday, 9 January.
Frank and Margaret Lawes, 82 and 80, celebrated their 60 years as husband and wife with a special pub meal, attended by 30 family members.
Frank and Margaret met when a friend took Margaret to a Christmas party at Molescroft.
Margaret said: “I knew it was love at first sight definitely, I’m very happy to have been married for 60 years.
“My tip for a long marriage is to be to be happy and to always go out together.”
During their working lives Frank served in the Navy for seven years before working in a fertilizer factory, while Margaret worked for Home Health, helping elderly people in the community.
The couple have two daughters Sandra and Denise, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
