A man who has “difficulties with alcohol” was caught drink-driving.
David Jeffrey Brown, 39, of South Townside Road in North Frodingham admitted to driving when over the alcohol limit. He was caught with 86 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 militres of breath, while the legal limit is 35mg. The offence took place on Tuesday 7 January at Wansford.
Prosecuting at Bridlington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 22 January was Andrew Vaughan.
In mitigation for Brown was Lindsey Kirk who said: “He is somebody who has had considerable difficulties with alcohol. He didn’t shy away from that he went out and got some assistance. He went on a detox programme.”
Presiding magistrate Mike Bowman gave him a £300 fine with court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge. He also banned him from driving for three years. Brown was offered a drink drivers reform course, which could shorten his ban.
