Works to add an additional 50 parking spaces to the rear of Beverley Leisure Complex will start from Monday, 23 September.
The scheme is designed to provide additional capacity for the centre, which is one of the most visited leisure facilities in the East Riding, and is anticipated to take around eight weeks to complete.
Both the council and Hull-based contractor, Wright Civil Engineering, will work closely to keep any disruption to users and event organisers to a minimum.
However, the venue will lose the area of the field used as an over-flow when the car park is full and is therefore encouraging people to consider alternative forms of transport to reach the centre.
Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding Council, said: “The construction of additional parking spaces at Beverley Leisure Complex is really welcome news and highlights just how popular this facility is with our residents.
“Due to the nature of the works there will be some unavoidable disruption but the council and the contractor will work to keep these to a minimum and I would like to thank members and centre users in advance for their patience and understanding.”
The contractor will work Monday to Friday each week.
