POPULAR CHOICE: The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs has proved popular so far. But will it make our final 40?

It is your last chance to vote for your favourite places as we look for the Top 40 things to do in East Yorkshire.

To celebrate what makes our area great, we are launching our search for the definitive list of the best East Yorkshire Experiences.

We want readers to get in touch with their ideas for the places and events that everyone should visit at least once.

We are looking for a wide range of experiences on our doorstep, from the fun days out for the whole family to the finest country pubs to enjoy a pint.

So far, we have received dozens of suggestions, with plenty of words of praise for some of the region’s most popular days out.

But there are still some gaps on our final 40, and you have until Monday to get in touch with your suggestions - or risk your favourite missing the list.

Which sporting events are worth a visit? Where is the best place to see live music? Which iconic buildings in our part of the world should be included?

Can you think of the best place to enjoy a picnic? Or how about the best restaurants, cafes or tea rooms which give a real taste of East Yorkshire?

We would especially like to hear of secret gems, which many people won’t know about, or your favourite walks or drives in the county.

Coun Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “There are some very well-known places across the East Riding but also some hidden gems that only the locals know about.

“There are also a number of museums and galleries off the beaten track and this could be the perfect time for those who do know about them to let the rest of the East Riding know what is out there.”

As well as thinking of places to recommend, you can suggest special days in East Yorkshire’s calendar.

Where is the best place to spend New Year’s Eve? Which events make Christmas special in our region? And which shows, fetes, galas or special events should be marked in everyone’s diary?

To let us know your ideas, email john.edwards@jpress.co.uk, with East Yorkshire Experiences as the subject.

Please include your full name, address and few sentences about why you believe your idea should be included in our list.

All 40 will be featured in the next few months
