A group of six Japanese school students travelled nearly 6,000 miles from their hometown of Takaoka to spend a week in Beverley.

Takaoka has a long history of friendship with the town, and students first visited in 2000 during Councillor Neville Holgate’s stint as mayor.

The students visited during the end of March and were welcomed by the current mayor, Coun Martin Cox, at a reception at the town council office.
