Ian's view of coast and countryside

SLEDMERE artist Ian Mitchell has been invited to take part in a prestigious exhibition in North Yorkshire.

Ian’s work, which feature clean lines and flat colour in a style similar to that of the 1920s rail posters, will be exhibited at the new South Street Gallery, in Scarborough throughout December and January.

Ian is best known for his contemporary landscapes inspired by the Yorkshire coast and countryside.

Ian said: “Linescapes are my attempt to create stylised landscapes based on stripped down reality. In so doing I have created a series of contemporary pieces celebrating the Yorkshire Coast and Countryside in a style that pays homage to the 1930's travel posters, and draws on the reductive style of German and Swiss designers.”

Limited edition prints of Ian’s work can be viewed at his home studio gallery on Malton Road, Sledmere in the run up to Christmas but ringing or emailing ahead is advisable.

For further information contact Ian on tel (01377) 236008 or email mail@ianmitchellart.com
