The first Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market of 2014 is set to take place at the bridge viewing area in Hessle, on Sunday 2nd February, from 9am to 1pm.

Now the chilly weather has arrived, it’s time to get wrapped up warm and head out to the monthly market, where you will find more than 100 stalls selling an array of delicious food and unique gifts.

With the post-Christmas healthy eating kicks in full force, the market is the perfect place to pick up a variety of fresh vegetables and meat, ideal for creating hearty stews, homemade soups and comforting roast dinners.

If you’re not counting the calories this winter, the market is also home to stalls selling freshly-baked cakes, pastries and pies, both sweet and savoury, which you can take home to enjoy with a cup of coffee after a stroll around the market.

Aside from the foodie offering, at the Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market, you can discover a whole host of gifts for all of the family. Its dedicated arts and crafts section is brimming with products, including woollen items, handmade soaps, candles and bags.

Neil Marshall, Head of Resources at the Humber Bridge, said: “The Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market is a great excuse to get out and about on a chilly winter’s morning. You can pick up a variety of things, from fresh groceries to handmade gifts, which also supports our brilliant local businesses and excellent regional producers, too.

“The markets continued to be a success in 2013, finishing on two well-attended Christmas events, and we hope to see great turnouts in 2014.”

The Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market, which holds accreditation from the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA), is the largest event of its kind in the region, with over 5,000 visitors each month. It is held on the first Sunday of every month, from 9am to 1pm, and ample free parking is available on site.

Each month, market visitors are invited to vote for their favourite stall in the ‘Trader of the Month’ competition. The winning trader is rewarded with free stall rent for the next event, and all visitors who make a nomination are entered into a prize draw, with a chance of winning a £25 gift voucher to spend at the next market. Market-goers can vote for their favourite at www.facebook.com/humberbridgeevents, or by emailing their nominations to traderofthemonth@humberbridgeevents.co.uk
