One week on, after an armed robbery at a Beverley Jewellers, detectives investigating the robbery are now appealing for information in relation to a red petrol can, which could hold valuable clues.
On the morning of the robbery at Guest and Phillips Jewellers (Tuesday 6 August 2013), it is believed a red petrol can was seen in the carriageway of York Road between Killingwoldgraves roundabout and Beverley Race Course.
This is very close to where the Vauxhall Omega car was found and recovered which was used in the robbery.
The red petrol can has been recovered by police officers and they believe this petrol can holds potentially valuable clues to the investigation.
Detectives working on the case are appealing to anyone one who drove along York Road between 0800hrs and 1000hrs on Tuesday 06 August and witnessed how and when the red petrol got to be in the middle of the carriage way of York Road to come forward.
Anyone who witnessed this petrol can on York Road, saw it being put in the middle of the road or alternatively have any information in relation to the robbery is urged to come forward and call 101, quoting log number 137 of 06/08/2013.
As previously reported, the robbers escaped with a variety of watches worth thousands of pounds after threatening staff.
