Four more years of the same

OVER recent years there seemed to be considerable and reasonable concern regarding crass decision-making at East Riding of Yorkshire Council (such as the discretionary Sue Lockwood pension award) and a perceived authoritarian approach to, and supine acceptance of, the leadership of council business.

Judging by last week’s council election results, it appears that these concerns were misconceived.

If the electorate does not get what it likes, then it will be forced to like what it gets. Whichever part of this aphorism applies here, the preference seems to be four more years of the same, please. How strange.
