Fishing event in memory of Cameron
A FISHING match is being organised in memory of a young Beverley teenager who died of cancer and was a keen angler.
The charity fund raising event is being organised by Scott Poultney (15), a close friend of Cameron Anderson, who died last year.
The event will be held at the Risby fishing lakes near Beverley on Friday July 31, which would have been Cameron’s 15th birthday.
The money raised will go to cancer research.
Scott and Cameron often went fishing together, and the two teenagers also twice fished with well-known TV angler John Wilson.
The fishing match will raise funds for cancer research and fishing shops in the area are rallying round to support the event by donating prizes and vouchers.
The match will take place from 10am to 4pm, with the draw for pegs at 8.45am.
Tickets cost 7.50 for juniors, and 10 for adults.
Scott, a pupil at Beverley’s Longcroft School, said he hoped that many anglers will turn out to support the event, which is a fitting tribute to his friend.
“We used to like to go fishing and I thought this was a good way of remembering him,” he said.
Scott’s twin brother, Ryan, who was also a friend of Cameron, has previously raised 1,000 in his memory by having his head shaved.
Earlier this year friends of Cameron, who was a student at Beverley Grammar School, held a charity football match in his name.
The event, held at Bishop Burton College, raised about 400 for cancer charities.
Tickets for the fishing match are available now from The Fishing Basket on Beverley Road, Hull, East Coast Tackle at Hornsea, or from Scott on (01482) 868201.
