Hollie Dixon had a day to remember last week as she was named Best Dressed Lady Racegoer at the Lady’s Day Meeting at Beverley Racecourse.
Hollie, 23, was delighted to follow in the footsteps of her mum Liz Akroyd who was named Best Dressed Racegoer in Yorkshire in 2010.
Hollie caught the judges eyes with a classic sleeveless Peplum dress in stunning emerald green, matched with black Jimmy Choo shoes and handbag. The winning outfit was topped off with a striking green hat with peacock feathers.
The hotly contested competition took place in the packed fashion show marquee and saw Hollie and mother Liz, who owns a fashion boutique in Hull, go head to head, along with a number of other beautifully dressed ladies.
Hollie said: “I was stood right next to mum as the judges made their decision so there was some friendly rivalry. When my name was called out she was as thrilled as me.
“At least she had the satisfaction of knowing that the winning dress came from her shop and the hat from her wardrobe.”
Competition winner Hollie was given some great prizes following her success including a year’s hairdressing services worth up to £1,000, £250 of hair products, a meal at a top restaurant and a two night stay in a luxury hotel suite.
It was nearly a double celebration as Hollie’s boyfriend Jacob Butterfield, a footballer with Norwich City, was amongst the finalists in the Best Dressed Gentleman competition, which was won by David Chambers.
Hollie now goes forward to represent Beverley in the Grand Finale of the ‘Go Racing in Yorkshire Best Dressed Lady Racegoer 2013’ competition which takes place at Doncaster on October 26th.
Hollie said: “I will be relying on mum to give me some tips for the final in the hope that I can follow in her footsteps and land the title.”
