Staff, residents, families and friends at Hica’s Woodlands care home in Driffield are transforming the home’s garden to enter a Hica in Bloom competition, which has a £500 prize.
Woodlands will be creating a working allotment from a grass area at the care home. Produce from the allotment will be used within the home or sold to raise funds. Woodlands’ plans also include installing a greenhouse and raised beds.
Woodlands is among 20 Hica care homes throughout the region that are taking part in Hica in Bloom. Judging will take place in July and the winning care home will receive a trophy and £500 for their residents’ community fund.
