Dancing in the streets

CHARITY fund-raisers will be dancing in the streets next week, when Beverley's longest ever conga winds its way through the town.

Hundreds of people are expected to take part in the event, which organisers hope will raise 40,000 for local good causes.

It will take place on Sunday September 30, starting in Saturday Market at 10am.

It is being organised by Busy Bees, with the money raised going to Dove House Hospice, St Andrew’s Children’s Hospice, Osprey, Macmillan, Jennifer Trust, the Army Benevolent Fund, and the Beverley Christmas Lights Appeal.

The Busy Bees are asking participants to buy a limited edition Beverley Conga t-shirt for 10, with the words ‘I Came, I Saw, I Conga’d’ on the front. They can then have their own group name or company logo on the back.

The minimum age to take part is 18.

There will be music throughout the town to sway the dancers on their way. There will also be prizes for those with the best headgear, whether it is a hat, a flag or any other unique creation.

The event has been organised by charity fund-raiser and local restaurateur Tina Cerutti, who has previously raised 120,000 by running five marathons and organising the enterprising Ball To Go Nowhere.

Several hundred people have already agreed to take part in the latest venture, and she is hoping that 1,000 will join in.

Anyone wanting more details or to buy a t-shirt can contact Tina and her team at www.busybeesbeverley.biz for more information or contact Cerutti 2 at Station Square, Beverley.
