East Riding of Yorkshire Council has signed a £3m five-year contract with Virgin Media Business that will see it join the Yorkshire and Humber Public Services Network.

The installation, which will take place over the next 12 months, will support the council in building a more resilient and flexible network across its sites.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, John Skidmore, interim director of corporate strategy and commissioning, Andrew Fisk and Paul Crane of Virgin Media Business sign the Public Services Network agreement at County Hall, Beverley.

Due to the rural nature of the East Riding, the council’s IT network currently covers a large geographical area. This deal comes after a recent commitment from the council to upgrade IT services, reducing costs and improving the reliability of the network.
