Sewerby Hall and Gardens ran an amateur photography competition based on the coast, sea and sky in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The winning photographs, one from each of the junior and senior categories, were chosen by a panel of judges at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

The winner of the senior category was Matthew Perks from Hornsea, with a picture entitled ‘Morning Contemplations’, taken on Hornsea beach.

The winning entry in the junior category was by Bailey Emmerson from Hull, aged 12, with a shot of the groynes and lighthouse at Spurn Point.

Both winners received a professionally printed copy of their photographs, supplied by Ben Walker of Gallerino Studios, along with a 2013-14 family season pass to Sewerby Hall and Gardens and a copy of the Adventurer’s Guide.

Marie Gascoigne, facility manager of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, said: “I would like to thank all the entrants in our competition. All the photographs were of a very high standard and it was certainly a difficult task picking the two winners.”

A selection of the entries is now on show in the Clock Tower Tea Rooms at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
