BUSINESSES URGED TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHILDREN'S CHARITY

East Yorkshire disabled children's charity, KIDS Yorkshire and Humber, is appealing to companies across the region to back its new business club.

The charity, which is based in Chanterlands Avenue, west Hull, launched the club in December last year in an effort to raise the funds needed help it continue its essential work.

KIDS Yorkshire and Humber supports more than 1,000 disabled children and their families in Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Wakefield.

It was established in the city in 1988 and provides services ranging from working directly with disabled children and young people, to training and guidance for professionals in the care sector.

KIDS Regional Director, Sue Cawkwell, said the business club offered a host of benefits to its members.

She said: "The business club will be meeting several times a year and as membership grows, there will be a lot of opportunities for business people to get to know each other, build relationships and raise their own profile.

"Members can get involved with KIDS projects directly, which provide great teambuilding opportunities, and their corporate logos will also be displayed on our website, newsletter and the KIDS 'Wall of Honour' which we take to all our events."

Janice Hopkins, Regional Fundraiser at KIDS, said the business community was very important to the charity and companies could get involved for as little as 250 per year.

"It takes a huge amount of effort by a small team of very dedicated people to run KIDS, so the business community is a very valuable resource for us," Janice said.

"The money we raise goes straight into helping young people and their families. We are urging companies to join the business club to help us continue helping others."

Hull-based bathroom products manufacturer, Reva Industries Ltd, was one of the first companies to sign up to the business club.

Managing Director, Gary Stevens, said: "We were looking for a charity to support so we went down to see the team at KIDS. We got such a warm welcome, and with the tremendous work that they do, we decided we wanted to support them straight away.

"KIDS makes life a lot easier for so many families, it's vital that their work carries on."

Tom Baxter, Project Health and Safety Manager at Saltend-based Vivergo Fuels, added: "The staff at KIDS have an extremely difficult job and carry it out extremely well.

"I believe supporting them is one of the most valuable things our business does."
