Crowds gathered at Beverley’s Memorial Hall for the Mayor’s Civic Dinner last week, enjoying a night of great entertainment and raising over £1,200 for charity.
The evening was entitled ‘Through the Decades’ and live entertainment was provided by the Adrini Sisters and a trio of talented students from Longcroft School called the Melodies.
Music was not the only entertainment provided as Sophie Cox and Greg Wareing, students at York St John University, interpreted some of the pieces in dance.
The money was raised on the night by an auction overseen by the High Sheriff, Stephen Larard and a raffle.
The cash will go to the mayor’s charities, Beverley and District Talking Newspaper, Beverley Arts Trust and Beverley Causeway, which works with adults with disabilities.
The Mayor said:“It was a delightful evening that brought together civic guests from around the area with friends, family and representatives from local organisations. We were treated to great entertainment as well as a delicious menu.
“It also raised a fantastic sum for my charities. I am very much looking forward to awarding some sizeable cheques in May when I complete my year as mayor.”
