Beverley Brass Band are on the lookout for new members and are particularly looking to hear from young players as they look to set up a youth band.

The band, which rehearses at St. John Ambulance hall on the corner of Wilbert/ Morton Lane, has been in existence since 1969 and members are keen to re-start its youth section.

Iain Colquhoun, secretary of the band, said: “We want to make people aware that we exist and provide people with the opportunity to come along, improve their playing and hopefully make a few friends as well.

“There is no particular standard needed but being able to play one or two things and being able to read music would be an advantage.

“You improve so much as a musician when you play with other people and it would be great if we could recruit a few more people.

“Hopefully after a time the Youth Band would be able to play two or three concerts over the year.”

Youth members would initially practice between 7-7.30pm on a Wednesday night at the hall and more details and band contacts can be found at www.beverleybrassband.co.uk
