A166 CRASH BETWEEN FRIDAYTHORPE AND GARROWBY HILL, EAST YORKSHIRE- DRIFFIELD MAN DIES, WOMAN AND BOY SERIOUSLY INJURED

Police are investigating a road traffic collision that occurred at about 1700 hours on Friday 05 February, on the A166 between Fridaythorpe and Garrowby Hill.

It involved two vehicles - a white Toyota Carina E, travelling westbound, from the direction of York, and a blue Toyota Lucida, travelling from the opposite direction.

The driver of the Toyota Carina E, a 66-year-old Driffield man, was taken to York District Hospital but sadly died at short time later in hospital.

A 46-year-old, woman, from the Driffield area, travelling in the Toyota Lucinda and a four-year-old boy, (travelling in the same vehicle) sustained serious injuries.

The 46-year-old woman was taken to York District Hospital.

The four-year-old boy was transferred to Leeds General Hospital.

Both are believed to be in a stable condition.

Fire brigade and ambulance staff also attended the scene.

Temporary road closures were put in place during the incident, closing the A166 road off between Fridaythorpe, Pocklington and Thixtonthorpe.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact PC 2052 ALMOND, on 0845 6060222 quoting log number 460 - 05/02/10.
