Children at a Beverley Primary School were given a glimpse at the future of the town this week, as the developers of the St Nicholasgate development donated a minature model of the site to the school.
Linden Homes donated an accurate model of the development to the nearby St Nicholas CP School.
The 3D model was commissioned by Linden Homes to give potential buyers the chance to see what the finished development would look like – right down to the exact colour of the brickwork, landscaping, road finishes and even the solar panels on the roofs. However, as St Nicholasgate is now nearing completion, with only a few homes remaining for sale – Linden Homes has donated the model to the school.
St Nicholasgate sales executive Sandra Longthorn said: “We have had a lot of involvement with the children and teachers of St Nicholas school; hosting site visits during the various stages of building – giving the youngsters a brief insight into how new homes are built, together with lessons on safety on building sites. The school was also invited to one of our official ‘street scene’ openings and join us for show home tours. With the model now surplus to our selling requirements, we have donated it to the school and believe it will benefit the children with their architectural and artistic projects.”
Teacher Vicki Galbraith said: “We are thrilled with the model and our huge thanks to Linden Homes, who have been generous with both their time and actions over the months in giving many of our children some hands-on knowledge of the construction industry and an insight into building communities.”
