A new scanner costing more than £700,000 has been installed at Hull Royal Infirmary.

The development of a new £800,000-plus radiography suite which houses the state-of-the-art computerised tomography (CT) scanner is the latest development in the redesign of the hospital’s Emergency Department.

Ongoing improvement works in the emergency care area are expected to cost in the region of £7 million overall and are due for completion by the end of the year, but this latest piece of kit, which replaces an older version, represents a significant advance in clinical practice and is already being used to provide potentially life-saving diagnoses for patients across the region.
