Road safety concerns

I write in response to Dave Beynon of Beverley’s letter on road safety issues on Flemingate.

Whilst I agree with him on some of his concerns, it is clear that Mr Beynon does not live on Flemingate itself. If he did, and had a car, he would understand that suggesting ‘a couple of hundred yards of yellow lines’ on the stretch of road where the Old Methodist Chapel was would only cause mayhem to the residents that live there and have enough trouble as it is trying to park within 500 yards of where they live.

In my opinion, road safety would be massively improved if drivers simply stuck to the 30mph speed limit.

I, for one, look forward to the day we get the southern relief road, which is long overdue and which I am sure the residents of Flemingate would agree would alleviate the congestion Mr Beynon talks about.

Resident of Flemingate,

Beverley
